‘Hold on, that’s the Queen!’ Julia brushes shoulders with Royalty

-

A Burnham-On-Sea horse owner could hardly believe her eyes when she brushed shoulders with the Queen at a horse trials earlier this week.

Julia Cox was attending the Windsor Horse Trials on Wednesday (May 11th) to watch two of her horses compete when Her Majesty wandered by, as pictured here.

Julia told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I was walking through the crowds of spectators when I became aware that a small lady who looked very familiar was next to my shoulder.”

“I had no idea who it was at first, so looked at her again and had the shock of my life.”

“I thought ‘Wait a minute, that’s the Queen!’ – it was wonderful to see her so close. She looked very relaxed watching the horses while wandering around,” added Julia, pictured on the right.

And the day got even better for Julia when her horse, called Jo Jo, performed exceptionally well to finish third in one of the leading competitions, the Martin Collins Instructors Challenge.

Julia’s horse, which competes under the name Vivante, was ridden by Jo Roberts from Hill Farm Equestrian in Burtle (pictured below).

“It was a fantastic day watching Jo Jo compete in the combined dressage and showjumping competition.”

“We just missed out on second place by eight hundredths of a second, but to get third was a fantastic result and everyone is just so delighted.”

A second horse from the local stable, Artizan, also managed to clinch ninth place in the same competition.
