Dozens of young artists from the Burnham-On-Sea area displayed their work during a special exhibition in Highbridge on Thursday night (June 30th).

King Alfred School opened its doors to parents and friends of the art students to see their colourful artwork, which ranged from paintings to films and photos.

“Almost 50 young artists aged 13-18 took part and showed a wide range of quality exhibits,” Louise Amato, head of art at King Alfred School, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We received lots of very positive comments from the visitors.”

During the evening, a cheque for £950 was also presented to the school’s art group by North Somerset Decorative and Fine Arts Society to help with the cost of buying art materials.

The group’s Dr Peter Clark said he was “delighted” to be able to hand over the funding to “such an enthusiastic and talented group of young artists.”

Town councillor Alan Miller visited the exhibition in his role as Burnham and Highbridge’s Second Deputy Mayor and said the standard of the display had been “fantastic”.
