A teenager has been arrested following a break-in at Highbridge’s King Alfred School this week in which a computer monitor was stolen.

Police were called to the school after a group of three former students and an existing pupil were spotted on CCTV cameras in the grounds.

“It was later found that a flat screen computer monitor had been stolen during the visit,” PC Ian Bartlett, Beat Officer for the Burnham urban area, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Staff at the school have quickly identified all those involved by looking at the CCTV footage and an 18 year-old man has been arrested and charged with burglary.”

He is due to appear before Sedgemoor Magistrates on June 7th.

PC Bartlett added that the stolen property had not been recovered and he has appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

“We are interested to hear from local people who have been offered a silver 17 inch flat screen LCD monitor in recent days,” he said.

PC Bartlett can be contacted at Burnham Police Station on 0845 456 7000.
