Highbridge’s King Alfred Concert Band celebrated its 30th anniversary in style with a special concert on Saturday night (July 9th).

The event took place in the main hall at King Alfred School and attracted an audience of over 70 people.

A colourful exhibition of material featuring the band’s history over the past three decades was also on display.

“The concert was well supported and much enjoyed. The anniversary celebrations also included a meal when over 30 past members and current committee members got together,” the band’s Francis Farr-Cox told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

A raffle was also held during the evening, with all proceeds going to Burnham’s Nathan Edwards Tennis Academy. Nathan was a drum player at the band and his mother, Sally, was among the guests at Saturday’s concert, as pictured.

The band comprises of 34 members of all ages and is composed of woodwind, brass, drums, tympani and percussion. It welcomes new players and further details can be found here.
