Motorists face delays after lorry overturns next to motorway junction

-

Motorists faced long delays around Highbridge’s M5 junction this evening (Wednesday, April 6th) after a lorry overturned.

The lorry toppled over on the Dunball roundabout next to junction 23 shortly after 4pm, spilling the cider it was carrying and diesel fuel.

Three fire crews were called, unsure if the driver was trapped, but they found no-one inside.

A fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Crews confirmed that no persons were trapped within the lorry but that diesel and cider were leaking from it.”

“Crews got to work cutting away the side of the lorry in order to confirm that it had not landed on any other vehicles. They confirmed there were no further casualties or vehicles involved and got to work dealing with the spillage.”

Police diverted traffic around the scene, but long queues of traffic developed leading up to the roundabout.
