Man airlifted to hospital after drag fork accident in East Huntspill

-

These were the scenes in East Huntspill on Thursday afternoon (August 11th) when a man was airlifted to hospital following a serious accident.

Burnham ambulance and fire crews rushed to The Causeway in East Huntspill at 2.46pm after a man trapped his right foot on the metal prongs of a drag fork.

A fire engine from Burnham was called to assist ambulance crews at the scene in dealing with the casualty.

“Fire crews assisted ambulance personnel by cutting away two of the four six-inch prongs on the fork to help the casualty,” fire spokeswoman Suzie Izzard told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

A helicopter landed in a nearby field, as pictured, and the man was loaded into the craft on a stretcher before being flown to hospital.

A green helicopter from Great Western Air Ambulance was used instead of the normal Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, which was busy elsewhere at the time.
