Thousands of pounds of donations were given to local good causes during Burnham-On-Sea Moose Lodge’s annual presentation night on Thursday (April 28th).

Moose Governor Eric Gill, who is recovering well after a heart attack last autumn, handed out cheques to representatives from the organisations.

The money was collected during fundraising events including the group’s recent jazz and chips night held in Burnham.

Burnham rescue hovercraft charity BARB received £1,000 after being chosen as Eric Gill’s charity of the year for 2010/2011.

And other recipients included Sounds and Voices (£360), Western Area Moose Welfare (£180) Ladies Circle (£180), Childrens Hospice South West (£839) and Devon And Somerset Air Ambulance (£1,650).

Dot Anderson, who is Lady President of Burnham Moose Ladies Circle, also handed over £100 cheques to Western Welfare, Sounds and Voices, Burnham Sea Cadets, Highbridge Festival Of The Arts and West Huntspill St John Badgers.
