5am queue in Burnham-On-Sea to buy final edition of News Of The World

-

A queue formed outside a Burnham-On-Sea newsagent at 5am on Sunday morning (July 10th) as residents snapped up collectable copies of the final edition of the News Of The World.

Colin Morris, who runs Hurleys Newsagents on Burnham High Street, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I was surprised that people were actually waiting outside the shop at 5am to get copies of the News Of The World.”

“By 10.30am I had completely sold all 159 copies. If we’d had another 50 copies I think those would have gone too.”

“The final issue of such a well-known newspaper is undoubtedly collectible, but given the past week’s disgraceful revelations I was surprised that so many people wanted to buy it.”

Other newsagents in Burnham and Highbridge also told Burnham-On-Sea.com they had quickly sold out of the paper, which was published for the final time on Sunday amid a phone hacking scandal.
