Somerset’s Road Safety Department held an event in Berrow last week specifically aimed at helping older drivers drive safely.

The ‘Route 60 Plus’ drop-in session attracted a large number of local residents and covered issues such as driving licences, changes in the highway code, effects of medication, safer driving at night, and advice on vehicle improvements.

Drivers were also invited to sign up for a free one hour driving refresher with an approved driving instructor and were given a copy of the latest Highway Code plus advice on fire safety and crime prevention.

PC Steve Greenhalgh told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a very successful event that was appreciated by those who attended. Further sessions are being planned in the future.”
