TV star Paul Merton to film camel polo spectacle on Berrow beach!

-

TV personality and comedian Paul Merton – who is well known for his appearances on the BBC’s Have I Got News For You – will be visiting Berrow Beach next Friday (15th July) to film a new Channel 5 TV series featuring an offbeat look at the British seaside.

TV production company Tiger Aspect has chosen Berrow to film an unusual match of camel polo which will take place between 10am-1pm, which the public will be welcome to attend.

Sedgemoor District Council’s property manager, Tim Mander, who negotiated the location deal, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It is great news that Berrow has been chosen to host this unusual event and we particularly welcome such a well-liked and indeed loved TV personality as Paul Merton.”

He added: “The fact that Berrow continues to be the preferred location of numerous production companies is a testament both to the beauty and accessibility of the beach and, of course, the help and assistance given by Sedgemoor’s Beach Safety Manager Graham Newing and his staff.”

The council says coverage like this helps to promote Berrow and the Burnham area as a beach holiday location.

Berrow recently featured in a CBBC children’s drama in October 2010 while Casualty filmed part of an episode in January 2011 on the same beach.

More recently, Frank Bruno and Sooty and Sweep have filmed programmes on neighbouring Brean beach.
