Residents in Rooksbridge, near Burnham-On-Sea, have raised more than £250 for a campaign to stop wind turbines from being built near the village.

The funds were raised for the NoPilrow campaign during a quiz night held at the Wellington Arms on Saturday (September 17th).

Nick Woolmington, Chairman of NoPilrow, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to local resident Roger Griffin for organising the event and to Steve Grubb, the landlord of the Wellington Arms.”

“We are still counting the money raised and hope the final amount to be nearer to £300. This will ensure we are able to continue our fight against the planned wind farm development.”

The group, which has 300 members, is fighting the proposals by Broadview Energy to build six 140 metre tall wind turbines on farmland at Pilrow near Rooksbridge.
