Police swooped on a supermarket car park in Burnham-On-Sea on Thursday afternoon (April 14th) following a suspected theft.

Three police cars rushed to the Pier Street Morrisons store, as pictured, after the owners of a nearby shop alerted officers to a suspected shoplifting incident.

Inspector Roger Tolley from Burnham Police told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We reacted to a report of a theft from the Peacocks clothing shop in the High Street.”

“Four people were tracked through the town to the Morrisons car park using Burnham’s CCTV cameras and the Radiolink system, where several items were seized from a parked car.”

He added: “Our investigations are ongoing, but no arrests were immediately made.”
