Council apologises over gremlins in Burnham postal voting papers
voting papers arriving in letterboxes across Burnham-On-Sea this
week are including outdated advice.
Burnham resident Geoff Shickle is among those who have been left
confused by the gremlins in the paperwork.
He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "On the ballot
paper envelope it states that I should have "signed the declaration
of identity form and had it witnessed by another person who has
signed the declaration and included their name and address."
Yet, when I checked this with Sedgemoor District Council they
admitted this is incorrect and this has not in fact been required
Sedgemoor District Council spokeswoman Claire Faun
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We are aware of this issue, which
has been been caused by the team using up an old supply of postal
ballot forms to try and reduce costs. We apologise for any confusion
this has caused."
