Train services through Highbridge station halted after death

-

Train services through Highbridge were halted on Wednesday (June 15th) after the body of a man was found on railway tracks outside Weston.

The body, believed to be that of a Weston man in his mid-50s, was discovered on the line underneath Devils Bridge near to Weston General Hospital at 6.10am and train services heading south to Highbridge were cancelled as a result.

Police closed off Bleadon Hill Road as British Transport Police began an investigation.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “The death is unexplained at the moment. We don’t believe he was hit by a train, we are investigating further.”

Train services were cancelled from Weston southwards, and a replacement bus service was being operated between Weston and Taunton.
