Red Nose Day was marked in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge with
a day of colourful fundraising on Friday (March 18th).
Hundreds of pupils at King Alfred School in Highbridge paid a
donation to take part in a 'wear what you want' day, raising more
than £1,000 for Comic Relief.
school has held various fun-filled fundraising events during the
week, including a gunging session.
"The students have had a lot of fun and also raised a good
sum for Comic Relief and other charities at the same time,"
said King Alfred School's Simon Aylward.
Elsewhere, staff and children at Berrow Primary and Pre-School
wore red on Friday to raise money for Comic Relief, collecting
Headteacher Heather Hector told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We
were really impressed by the generosity of the donations and the
effort made by staff and children alike. It is really important
to us as a school that we get involved in events like this as
it gives us an opportunity to consider how fortunate we are."
And the team at Homes in Sedgemoor raised £105 for Comic
Relief by holding several fundraising activities on Friday. Staff
came to work with cakes to sell and also held a quiz and wore
funny hats. Organiser Gary Orr said: "As always, this years
Red Nose Day was lots of fun and our staff team pulled together
to raise a great donation for Comic Relief."
The Homes In Sedgemoor team raised over £100 for Comic
Berrow School's pupils also joined in Friday's fundraising
