-

The RNLI’s Chief Executive has made a brief visit to Burnham-On-Sea lifeboat station this week during a tour of stations across the country.

Paul Boissier, head of the nationwide charity, was given a conducted tour of Burnham lifeboat station in Pier Street.

During the tour he met crew members, fundraisers from Burnham and the Chew Valley area, and inspected the equipment in use at the station.

He was also given an insight to some of the operational techniques and problems specific to Burnham, and watched video footage of several rescues.

He said: “I am immensely humbled by what I see, because so much enthusiasm goes into what I find.”

Burnham was his 151st station to be visited – he was going on to other stations in the south west, with his next stop being Minehead.
