A dream came true for a football-mad youngster from Burnham-On-Sea on Monday (May 30th) when met soccer idol Kevin Keegan.

King Alfred School student Samuel Harkness, from Bathurst Close, won a competition organised by league sponsors nPower to cover the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium with a number of stars.

The 14-year-old Liverpool fan spent the day with several mentors, including former Anfield ace and England manager Kevin Keegan covering the big game between Swansea and Reading.

Father Matt told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “He had a fantastic day that will be remembered for years to come.”

“It began with an early train to London to go to a TV studio. There, he recorded a ‘Football Focus’-style program with Kevin and TV presenter Keith Price, before heading to Wembley for the match.”

“He and Kevin watched and analysed the game from the press box before giving a live interview to BBC Radio Somerset just after the final whistle.”

“With an ‘access all areas’ pass, he then made his way to the pitch, where he was able to get autographs of some of the Swansea players, including their manager Brendan Rodgers, and was even able to practice his punditry by asking the players a question or two.”
