Members of Burnham’s Sea Cadets were celebrating on Saturday (May 7th) after winning a national drill competition.

Burnham’s Sea Cadet Unit, TS Dulverton, competed against units from across the country at the National Drill Competition at HMS Raleigh, near Plymouth.

“It is the first time the Burnham Unit has ever won a national competition of any description, so it is a huge achievement,” spokesman Matt Harkness told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Big congratulations go to the Cadets involved, Leading Cadets Wookey, Hayes and Tutton, plus Ordinary Cadet Astill and Cadet Yates.”

“They had to parade the Sea Cadet ‘Colour’ (a flag), using a set routine that they have had to learn in a short space of time as they have only just taken charge of a new type of rifle.”
