Churchgoers
in Burnham area collect 200 gift boxes for seafarers
Churchgoers
from across the Burnham-On-Sea area have collected dozens of shoeboxes
full of gifts for needy seafarers.
Almost 200 Christmas Shoe Boxes have this week been
delivered to the Mission to Seafarers in Portbury Docks, from
where they will be distributed across the world.
The Christmas gifts were collected by parishioners
at St Andrew's in Burnham, St Mary's in Berrow and St Bridget's
in Brean over the past few weeks.
"They
were packed with all sorts of 'goodies' for the seafarers, some
of whom have been away from home for nearly a year," one
of the local organisers, Liz Roost, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The Mission to Seafarers is a Christian agency that
works in more than 230 ports across the world, providing help
and support to seafarers in need.
