Thousands of improvements to council properties in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge came a step closer this week when the formal signing of contracts for Homes in Sedgemoor’s Decent Homes Programme took place.

Earlier in the year, Burnham-On-Sea.com reported here that Homes in Sedgemoor had received government funding of £25million to deliver a programme of house repairs across the district.

The group says the funding will enable the ‘largest housing investment in the area for a generation’.

Following a rigorous selection process that included consultation with residents, building contractors Wates Living Space and the Apollo Housing Group have been chosen to deliver the programme.

Lynda Price, Chair of Homes in Sedgemoor’s Board, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The signing of these contracts marks a new beginning for our customers.”

“Wates and Apollo have been working closely with us for some months now, consulting with our residents, learning about the areas we work in and helping to finalise our plans.”

“I have every confidence that the partnership will deliver a quality Decent Homes Programme and I cannot wait to see the first set of completed improvement works.”
