A 15-year-old St John Ambulance Cadet from Burnham-On-Sea has this week received the highest award a cadet can achieve.

Thomas Fincham, pictured, received his Grand Prior Award during the Highbridge and Burnham St John Ambulance Cadets Presentation Evening.

“This is the highest award a Cadet can achieve and requires studying 24 different subjects in addition to keeping your first aid skills up-to-date,” Sarah Westlake, St John Divisional Superintendent, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Thomas studied a whole range of subjects including Crime Prevention, Crafts, Media, DIY, Nutrition, General Knowledge, Child Development and Casualty Simulation.”

Meanwhile, two new cadets – Angelina Mitchell and Shannon Edwards – were also enrolled during the evening and welcomed into the group.
