Bishop of Bath and Wells thanks Sue for half a century’s service

-

The Bishop of Bath and Wells made a very special visit to East Huntspill at the weekend to thank a long-standing church member for a half century of service.

For the past 50 years, Sue Elsworth has served All Saints in East Huntspill as its organist, churchwarden and treasurer.

On Sunday, Bishop Peter Price made a special visit to the parish to thank her for her dedication.

Reverend Geoffrey Walsh told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “On March 12th 1961, at the tender age of 13, Sue first sat at the church organ as the official organist for the parish church of All Saints East Huntspill, having been appointed by the then vicar, the Reverend Reginald Bailey.”

“50 years later, Sue has continued to give her life to the church as its organist, churchwarden and treasurer.”

“Sue is totally committed to the church as she is with the village school, the local community and other local organisations.”
