Crowds flock to re-launched Sunday market in Highbridge

-

A weekly market returned to Highbridge’s former cattle market site on Sunday (October 2nd) after an absence of over two years.

Businessman Paul Stewart has re-launched the market next to the fire-hit Highbridge Hotel.

Paul told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a good start – we had eight stalls offering fruit and veg, fresh meat and food – and a good number of visitors.”

“I hope we can build on this by attracting more traders over the coming weeks and encourage more visitors.”

Cllr Joe Leach, who has been pushing for the market to return for several years, added: “This is a good day for Highbridge. It’s great to see this tradition return and the former cattle market being used again. Our market town has a market again!”
