Man charged following swan deaths probe in Burnham area

A man from Wedmore has been charged with possessing a shotgun without a firearms certificate as part of the police probe into a spate of swan shootings in the Burnham-On-Sea area earlier this year.

Shane Alway, 37, from Wedmore is due to appear at Bridgwater Magistrates Court on May 10th.

Police spokesman Wayne Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Two other people arrested in relation to this incident have been released without charge."

As previously reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com, dozens of swans were found dead earlier this year after being shot by an airgun.

A reward of £26,000 was raised by supporters of wildlife care charity Secret World to find the culprits of the killings.
