Man charged following swan deaths probe in Burnham area

A man from Wedmore has been charged with possessing a shotgun without a firearms certificate as part of the police probe into a spate of swan shootings in the Burnham-On-Sea area earlier this year.

Shane Alway, 37, from Wedmore is due to appear at Bridgwater Magistrates Court on May 10th.

Police spokesman Wayne Baker told "Two other people arrested in relation to this incident have been released without charge."

As previously reported by, dozens of swans were found dead earlier this year after being shot by an airgun.

A reward of £26,000 was raised by supporters of wildlife care charity Secret World to find the culprits of the killings.
