Dozens of Europe's leading cyclists will be speeding through the Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge area on Friday (16th September) when stage six of the Tour of Britain cycle race visits Somerset.

Friday's race will start in Taunton at 10.15am and then head towards the Burnham-On-Sea area, as shown on the map above (click to enlarge).

From around 11.30am the race will pass through Shapwick before reaching Burtle at 11.40am, Bason Bridge at 11.45am, Watchfield at 11.50am, Mark at 11.55pm, Blackford at 12 noon and Wedmore at 12.05pm.

It will then pass through Cheddar Gorge at 12.15pm and the race is due to finish in Wells at approximately 1.35pm. Click here for a detailed map showing the route of Friday's stage.

A rolling road closure will be in place along the entire race route 20 minutes before the first rider passes and this will be released once the last vehicle has passed.

The Somerset stage finished in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea in 2008, attracting big crowds.
