Tourism bosses hit the road to promote Burnham in South Wales

-

Tourism bosses from Brean Leisure Park joined teams from Wookey Hole and Fleet Air Arm Museum in promoting the area as a holiday destination to the people of South Wales last week.

The first Somerset Tourism Association promotional tour of 2011 visited Asda supermarket stores around Cardiff and Swansea.

Mike Barsby, from Brean Leisure Park, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Over 5,000 Somerset holiday information packs were handed out to shoppers and we received a very warm welcome from Welsh families.”

“Many people I spoke with had holidayed in Somerset in the past and loved the area. Somerset’s s attractions and seaside towns such as Burnham are also becoming increasingly popular for day trips as Cardiff is only an hour or so drive away.”

“Tourism is vitally important to the economy of our county, creating around 31,000 jobs and a billion pounds of income each year. Promotional initiatives such as the Wales tour play a major role in encouraging more people to holiday in our lovely county.”

Somerset Tourism Association is committed to promoting Somerset as a tourist destination and is very much aware that the county has a lot to offer to potential visitors, giving them a choice of coast and country together with the historical and mystical legends that Somerset has to offer.

More promotional tours in conjunction with Asda will be taking place over the coming weeks in the Home Counties and the Midlands.
