Tributes paid to former Highbridge school student

-

Tributes have been paid to a former Highbridge school pupil who has died this week after a long battle with drink-related problems.

Teresa Hurley, a former student at King Alfred School, died on Sunday at the age of 42.

A number of tributes have been paid to her by friends here on Burnham-On-Sea.com’s forums.

Her mother, Enid Lloyd, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “She made many and kept friends all her life. At 18 she had it all, brains and looks, but she wasted her talents.”

“She was funny, fiesty and lovable. She had strong opinions and would listen to arguments, but still think she was right.”

“Ten years ago her children were taken away and put up for adoption because of her drinking.”

“She grieved for them the rest of her life, we begged her to stop drinking but she would always ask why, what’s the point.”

“We shall miss her so much – she made me laugh even on bad days. She lived with her partner in Ilminster.”

“If her death means that just one person stops drinking that would be a lasting legacy and make some sense to us.”
