Dozens of Burnham-On-Sea residents took a step back in time when the town’s Women’s Institute held a successful Victorian Bazaar on Saturday (5th November).

The popular event was held at Burnham Community Centre in Berrow Road and raised £860 towards the building’s ongoing refurbishment work.

Burnham WI President Denise McKenna told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The event went really well and we had a steady stream of visitors throughout the day.”

“We were also delighted to welcome Burnham’s Mayor and Mayoress, who enjoyed spending time chatting with members.”

In addition to teas served by Victorian waitresses, there were exhibits of Victorian memorabilia and a shoe shine boy was on hand.

Also, a wide selection of food and hand-made crafts, plus items suitable for Christmas presents, were also on sale.

Burnham WI meets in the town’s Community Centre on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 2pm and all ladies are welcome to join.
