Video: Take a flight over Burnham from a remote-controlled plane!

These unique birds-eye views of Burnham-On-Sea have been captured on film from a radio controlled aircraft.

Burnham resident Greg Willis attached a video camera to his mini glider and then directed it over the town while filming hundreds of metres above the town's streets.

The footage includes footage of Burnham's seafront and the town centre.

Greg told Burnham-On-Sea.com he recently took up the hobby after being given a mini-glider as a Christmas present.

"I decided to make the Burnham video after seeing similar ones on YouTube. Other areas I've filmed so far include Clevedon and Clifton, Thornbury, Yeovil and I am already looking to cover more areas," he said.

"I happened to choose an evening last week when there were perfect weather conditions for filming over Burnham-On-Sea. The glider took off from the beach."

He added: "For the technically-minded, the glider is a Parkzone Radian and it was fitted with a Toshiba S10 HD camera I strapped to it."

The flight complied fully with FAA rules and Greg also has insurance through the British Model Flying Association (BMFA).

He says he wants to make more of the unique films and is welcoming suggestions. He is also keen to incorporate GPS tracking into the videos to display graph altitude, speed and position. Greg's YouTube channel is available here.
