History
project seeks help in identifying Burnham-On-Sea soldier
A
group of Burnham-On-Sea history researchers is seeking help in
identifying this wartime resident who died during the First World
War.
St Andrew's Church is working on a project to identify a number
of photographs of Burnham men whose names appear on the town's
War Memorial in the remembrance garden.
"We
now have four frames containing photographs of these men and will
be putting them all in the church where they can be seen by visitors,"
the group's Dave Higgott told Burnham-on-Sea.com.
"There
is one person, however, who we do not have a name for - and we
would welcome the help of Burnham-On-Sea.com readers in identifying
him. To complicate the search, the man is shown in civvies, so
we're not sure where to look."
"All
we know is that he died in the Great War and is one of the many
people named on the Burnham-On-Sea War Memorial."
"The
pictures and the Roll of Honour are of significantly uneven numbers
so we can't name him by default after ticking off the rest."
"We
would be very grateful if anyone recognises the gentleman or has
further details about him."
"We
would very much like to acknowledge him properly in the restored
photo frames."
If
you can help, send an email to Mr Higgot via Burnham-On-Sea.com
here and the information
will be passed on.
