Water mains burst causes flooding in Burnham-On-Sea

-

A water mains burst left a busy road in Burnham-On-Sea under several inches of flood water on Saturday night (June 4th).

Bristol Water was alerted to the incident next to the Love Lane roundabout, opposite Burnham’s Tesco store, shortly before 9.30pm.

Water gushed down Love Lane for several hours, causing slippery roads and flooding pavements, as pictured here.

Bristol Water spokesman Jeremy Williams told Burnham-On-Sea.com late on Saturday evening: “Our team will be working overnight to establish which water main is affected before resolving the problem.”

“At present, water supplies are not affected but a large area is likely to be affected once repairs begin. The aim is to complete the work overnight.”

He added that the cause of the burst had not been established, but it was likely that ground movement caused by the current hot, dry spell is to blame.
