This was the incredible scene after a 4×4 truck careered off the A38 in Brent Knoll this week and slammed into a commercial property, sending bricks flying and ending up wedged in a huge hole in the wall.

Police were called to West Country Motorhomes at 10pm on Tuesday after the Toyota 4×4 caused substantial damage, as pictured here.

The driver was understandably shaken by the accident but otherwise not hurt.

He told police that he lost control of the vehicle after someone ‘cut him up’ outside the Fox and Goose pub next to the building.

Wayne Baker, police spokesman, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Police were called to the scene just after 10pm and found the vehicle had hit the building, leaving it with structural damage. The one person inside did not require an ambulance.”

A passer-by at the scene told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s so fortunate that the accident happened at this time, rather than in the daytime, or the shop could have been busy and someone could have been seriously hurt.”

The vehicle was taken away on Wednesday afternoon, allowing repairs to begin.
