Winning Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge lights displays announced

-

The winners of Burnham and Highbridge’s annual Christmas lights competition were announced on Friday (December 23rd).

Town councillors Ken Smout, Dennis Davey, Pat Burge and Tom Nicholls have visited dozens of displays across the towns this week before picking the winners.

In Burnham-On-Sea, the best overall house award goes to Mike Perrin of 7 Wilde Close (pictured right at his lighting up ceremony) while the runner-up is Keith Mitchell of 20 Winchester Road.

The award for the best group of illuminated houses has gone to the homes of Trinity Close, whose display recently appeared on national TV, as featured here.

In Highbridge, the Best Individual House award goes to J Day of 54 Poplar Estate, while the runner-up is R. Gribbon of 3 Donston Road. The best group of Highbridge houses was won by 75 and 76 Church Street.

First place in the best-decorated business category is the Secret World charity shop of Victoria Street, Burnham while the runner-up is Central Hair Studio of Abingdon Street.

Carol Wood, who runs the Secret World Shop, which has a Narnia theme this year, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re delighted to have won – a lot of effort and thought goes into making our window display different each year. We try to come up with something original each year.”

This year’s prizes will be presented to the winners at the January Town Council Meeting on Monday, 9th January 2012 at 6.45pm.
