Police have said the pilot of a light aircraft which crash-landed into a field near Wedmore on Sunday (March 25th) suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene at 4.34pm after the two-seater aircraft came down – as pictured here – and the pilot was taken by air ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

Police later confirmed that the man had been left “dazed and confused” by the crash, but had escaped major injury.

The aircraft brought down several power lines, and an investigation is now underway into the cause of the incident which is the second in four years involving the same plane.

Sunday’s incident happened in Western Drove, Godney – a couple of miles outside Wedmore, near Burnham-On-Sea.

An earlier accident involving the Pioneer 200 Alpi occurred in June 2008 when the plane came down near Wells. An official report at the time said the pilot had found movement of his control stick had become impeded by a kneeboard strapped to his thigh, which had caused the accident.
