140 complete Burnham-On-Sea’s beach aquathlon in Spring sunshine

More than 140 people took part in Burnham-On-Sea’s annual aquathlon on Sunday morning (April 1st).

The popular event, which was organised by Burnham Swim and Sports Academy, comprised of a 500 metre swim at Burnham Pool followed by a 5km run along the beach and seafront.

Chris Hine from Bath won the event in a fast time of 27 minutes and 25 seconds, which was 29 seconds ahead of Burnham’s Scott Jenkins in second place. Full results are available here.

Six separate children’s Splash n’ Dash races were also well supported, with dozens of local youngsters taking part.

The under 8s swam 50 metres and ran 500 metres, while those 10 and under swam 75 metres and ran 750 metres while those 11 and over swam 150 metres and ran 1,500 metres.

“The event was really well supported by competitors from across the area,” the academy’s Sara Cox-Conklin told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “We thank everyone who was involved in taking part in supporting the event and making it such as success.”
