Burnham-On-Sea school celebrates Sedgemoor athletics contest win

-

Pupils from a Burnham-On-Sea school were celebrating on Friday (January 27th) after winning the Sedgemoor Area Primary Sports Hall Athletics Competition.

Held at Chilton Trinity Sports Centre, six local schools were involved in a series of events ranging from indoor field events to sprint relays.

Burnham’s St Andrew’s School narrowly beat North Petherton Primary School to take first place and will now represent the region during the County Finals on February 6th.

Headteacher Gavin Morris told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the children were delighted with their excellent team effort and were cheered on by supportive parents and teachers.

“I was extremely proud of the way they worked together to gain a hard-fought first place and was equally grateful to those parents who helped transport the 23 Year 5 and 6 girls and boys to Bridgwater,” he said.

“Special thanks go to Burnham-On-Sea Rugby Club for the use of their minibus and Mr Webb for driving us.”
