Police make arrests after fatal crash in which two men were killed

Police
have arrested two men as part of their investigation into a crash
which claimed two lives last Sunday.
Police
and ambulance crews from Burnham-On-Sea were sent to the collision,
which ocurred at 3am on the A371 Axbridge Bypass near Cheddar
in which two men in their 30s were killed and a third was taken
to hospital.
Police
said they have arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of causing
death by dangerous driving, who has been released on bail pending
further enquiries.
And
a 17-year-old youth, was also arrested on suspicion of causing
death by dangerous driving, has been released without charge.
Police
have not formally named the men who died, but both are believed
to be from the Cheddar area.
Another
man who was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary with life-threatening
injuries was later transferred to Frenchay Hospital where he is
in a critical but stable condition.
Police
investigators are appealing for witnesses to the collision between
a BMW and a Peugeot to come forward. They also want to speak to
anyone who saw a red BMW on the A38 between Brent Island and Cross
before the crash. Those
with information can contact the police's collision investigation
unit by calling 101.
