A long line of motorbikes cruised along Burnham seafront on Sunday (May 13th) at the end of a fundraising bike run in aid of a local charity.

Over 30 Somerset Motorcycle Group members took part in the charity ride, which started at Highbridge’s Bristol Bridge Inn and headed to Shepton Mallet and back in aid of Burnham’s rescue hovercraft charity BARB.

Organiser Norman Templeman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a brilliant ride in lovely weather and it was nice to see some new faces among the regulars.”

“I would like to thank everyone who came along and especially the marshalls that kept the run so smooth, with no hold ups.”

“The ride took us from Highbridge to Taunton, then onto Ilminster, then for a break at Cartgate Services, before riding onto Shepton Mallet, and down through Cheddar Gorge, ending up at the Hovercraft Station on Burnham seafront.”

“May I thank Cartgate Services in Yeovil for their generosity in giving each rider a free hot drink. The ride raised a total of £180 for BARB.”

The group will be as Asda in Highbridge this Saturday from 10am-4pm for a ‘meet the members day’ when they will be collecting and selling merchandise for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.
