Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor has this week waved off a group of fundraising bikers and a special dog on a unique 1,000 mile cross-country journey!

Gus, the dog, is travelling in a specially-made sidecar attached to one of the 15 motorbikes during the three-day ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

The group – called ‘End To End Nutters’ – hope to raise £5,000 for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and the Forces Children’s Trust.

The 15 bikes, 21 people and dog were waved off by Mayor Ken Smout outside the Berrow Inn this week, as pictured here, where they gathered for the start.

John Scott, one of the organisers, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’ve raised thousands of pounds for charity over the years. Gus, my dog, loves to come along with us and is always securely harnessed in the sidecar and checked over by a vet before we set off. He loves travelling!”

Mayor Ken Smout said: “The riders are doing this for two excellent national charities and doing the ride in their own time at their own cost. I’m very happy to support them.”
