An up-and-coming young boxer from Burnham-On-Sea’s Titans Boxing Club punched his way to a well-deserved win during a hard-fought bout in Devon at the weekend.

Lewis Stacey, pictured, was in action at Pollyfield Community Centre in Bideford where he faced a local favourite, James Hill Perrin.

“At the start of the first round the more muscular, but shorter, Perrin came racing out of his corner to meet Lewis head-on in what was a ferocious opening encounter,” the club’s coach, Lisa Stacey, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“However, despite the noise of the crowd in support of Perrin, Lewis more than equalled his opponent’s aggression and had a superior reach advantage that enabled him to use his jab to great effect. He followed this up with powerful right-hand shots that rocked Perrin on more than one occasion.”

“The second round followed in similar fashion, with both boxers exchanging heavy shots. Going into the third and final round, Perrin started to visibly tire and Lewis took advantage of this opportunity and scored well with multiple combinations to get a well-deserved points decision. The crowd showed their appreciation in what was a very fast, entertaining bout.”

Titans Amateur Boxing Club trains on Monday and Friday evenings at the BAY Centre in Cassis Close, Burnham-On-Sea, from 6.15pm – 7.30pm and those who are interested in joining should contact Lisa Stacey, ABA Coach / Secretary, on 07866 700443.
