Fire
crews rescue canoe enthusiast from river in East Huntspill
A
canoe enthusiast was rushed to hospital after being rescued from
a river in East Huntspill on Friday (May 4th).
Fire
crews from Burnham-On-Sea and Bridgwater were called to Merry
Lane in the village shortly after 4pm.
The man fell out of his canoe into the cold water while paddling
along the waterway, pictured right.
"Two
fire appliances were mobilised at 4.04pm to reports that a male
was in the water hanging onto a tree branch," a spokesman
told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
He was rescued by the crews using a throw line.
An
ambulance was called to the scene and the man was treated by the
ambulance crew before being taken to hospital as a precaution.
