Burnham carnival 'crisis' meeting tonight after volunteer warning

Organisers
of Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge's annual carnival are hoping
for a good turnout at their AGM tonight (Wednesday, April 11th)
after warning that the event is in 'crisis' due to a lack of volunteers.
The
organisers have distributed thousands of these attention-grabbing
leaflets across the area in recent weeks to warn that without
more local support the carnival "will close down".
The
Carnival Committee hopes new volunteers will come forward at their
annual general meeting, which is being held at 7.30pm in the Ritz
Social Club in Victoria Street.
Chairman
Phil New told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The Highbridge and Burnham
Carnival Association are in desperate need of volunteers to help
run the event this year."
"We
have lost several volunteers over the past year and the police
and Highways are asking us to do even more paperwork to be able
to hold our carnival which we are finding hard to get done."
"No
experience is necessary and all we ask is that you have an enthusiasm
for the carnival and a willingness to help out."
