The
driver of this cement mixer was lucky to escape without injuries
after an accident near Burnham-On-Sea on Thursday (April 19th).
Fire,
police and ambulance crews rushed to East Brent at 2.15pm after
the cement mixer overturned on the A38 Bristol Road.
"The
driver inside was understandably shaken up but managed to scramble
out of his cab unhurt," an eyewitness at the scene told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"He
swerved to avoid a car that had pulled out in front of him and
this led to the lorry overturning."
Fire crews from Burnham and Weston-super-Mare were sent
to the scene amid initial concern that the driver was trapped
inside.
"Crews
found the driver had self-rescued prior to our arrival. Crews
made the vehicle safe only," a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
A
police spokeswoman confirmed that no-one was injured, but added
that the road was closed while recovery of the vehicle took place.
As pictured, a crane was brought in to remove the vehicle.
