An £18,000 project to renovate Burnham-On-Sea’s Community Centre has got underway this week.

One side of the landmark building in Berrow Road suffers from severe damp, which has prompted the refurbishment.

The centre’s Chairman, Ken Hindle, pictured, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The east side of the building has long suffered from damp, causing cracking in the paintwork and problems with the rendering.”

“We’re addressing this by replacing the rendering and carrying out plastering inside and outside of the building to treat the damp and resolve the issues.”

The work is being funded by grants and donations to the Friends Of Burnham Community Centre.

Ken stressed that the centre will continue to operate as normal throughout the work, which is scheduled to be completed during December.
