Residents
of Burnham-On-Sea's Marlborough Court, Gardenhurst and The Grove
held a mass celebration for The Olympics by hosting their own
Community Games last week.
Over
50 local residents joined forces as teams to compete in games
that were a twist on the traditional Olympic games.
The
modern tentathlon, wrong jump and water holo were all enjoyed!
The
final scores were very tight with only one point between gold
and silver placings with the team called 'The Incredibles' just
pipping 'My Name is Rio' to the top spot.
Organiser
Bev Milner Simonds, from the team 'My Name is Rio', thanked the
Town Council, Segemoor Council, Mayor and Community Games for
their support.
"Bringing
people together to take part in some competitive sport, make new
friends and use the street as a giant playground was such fun!"
"The
three streets pride themsleves on their community spirit and the
'summer of sport' was an obvious opportunity for us to come together
and celebrate. Thank you to all the teams and those who helped
put on such a great event."
