Two huge cranes towered over Burnham-On-Sea’s Sailing Club on Monday morning (March 26th) when the annual spring ‘crane-in’ saw 21 boats hoisted into the River Brue.

The annual tradition is arranged each Spring by the Sailing Club when the yachts are lifted out of the boat yard and into the river in time for the start of the sailing season.

It was an early start for the club’s members, with the operation to move the boats getting underway at 6am to fit in with the high tide.

“We’ve had perfect, calm conditions for the morning and everything has gone very smoothly,” the club’s President David Humphrey told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Two of the yachts were also hoisted out of the river into the boat yard for maintenance.
