Sighting
of injured deer prompts search of Burnham-On-Sea beach
Wildlife
carers were called out on Friday afternoon (April 6th) after an
injured deer was spotted on Burnham-On-Sea beach.
The
animal was reported to Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre by
several people who saw it running in a distressed state across
the mudflats towards the low lighthouse.
Secret
World contacted BARB (Burnham Area Rescue Boat) and a search of
the beach and dunes was carried out using one of its trucks and
two crew at 2pm, but no sign of the animal was found.
Any
further sightings of the deer should be directed to Secretworld
by calling 01278 783250.
BARB
assists with animal incidents where there is a concern that people
may put themselves at risk by trying to reach stranded animals.
