Body
of boy found in Burnham-On-Sea after search for missing Dylan
Police
searching for Dylan Cecil, the four year-old boy who went missing
after slipping off Burnham-On-Sea jetty, found the body of a young
child on Thursday.
Coastguards
and police recovered the body near to the pontoons at Burnham-On-Sea
Sailing Club at around 12.30pm.
Dylan
slipped from Burnham's jetty into the sea at around 6pm on Sunday
evening, prompting a huge sea and coast search involving lifeboats,
hovercrafts, Coastguards and helicopters.
Supt
Keith McCoubrey, Head of Operations, said: "I can confirm
we were called at about 12.30pm today by a member of the public
to the body of a young boy found on the water's edge near to the
yacht club."
"The
body is still to be formally identified but I believe it to be
that of Dylan Cecil who went missing last Sunday evening."
"An
intensive search was launched on Sunday and continued throughout
the night into Monday morning to try to find the missing boy from
Kettering."
"Well-rehearsed
plans were rolled out involving the emergency services and agency
partners including the police, fire, ambulance, HM Coast Guard,
RNLI and Burnham Area Rescue Boat."
"I
would like to thank all of these agencies for determination and
commitment they demonstrated in their efforts to find Dylan."
"Dylan's
parents have been made aware," said Supt McCoubrey.
