Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Clerk to retire next year

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Clerk is set to retire next year, it has been confirmed this week.

Eileen Shaw, 61, is stepping down from the Town Council position after 13 years.

Mrs Shaw, pictured with Mayor Ken Smout, told "I will be sad to leave because I have enjoyed the challenge of this busy role, meeting some super people since taking it on in 1999."

She added: "I do, though, want to spend more time with my husband and also do more travelling."

Eileen will be leaving next Spring and a recruitment campaign will be undertaken over the next few months to find a replacement.
