New Highbridge ‘enterprise hub’ for small businesses to open in 2013

-

A major new ‘enterprise hub’ for small businesses in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge is on track to open by the end of next year, it was announced this week.

County Councillor John Woodman told a meeting of the Town Council on Monday that work to build the new facilities on land next to Highbridge’s Isleport Business Park recycling centre is set to begin in the new year.

The plans were first unveiled in May when Caroline Spelman, Secretary of State for the Environment, visited the site, as pictured above.

“The facilities will transform the prospects of local start-up companies by providing 10 brand new business units with super-fast broadband and the services of a business mentor,” Cllr Woodman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The ‘enterprise hub’ is one of several projects that Devon and Somerset’s Rural Growth Network is delivering across the region as it aims to create more than 1,300 jobs and boost the regional economy by £58 million.

Cllr Woodman added: “The Highbridge project will help small ‘back room’ businesses gain office space in order to expand their operations and create local jobs.”

“This is great news for Highbridge and demonstrates what an ideal location the town is for business.”

A planning application is due to be submitted soon and building work is scheduled to begin in 2013, completing in December 2013.
